Exclusive Look At Wikio’s Top 30 Parenting Bloggers!

Hello fellow parenting bloggers!

Fancy an exclusive look at this month’s Wikio Top 30 UK Parenting blogs? The official new rankings don’t go live at http://www.wikio.co.uk/blogs/top  until 10th August but I have been given the opportunity to give you a sneaky peek here on my blog! And who can resist…?

The rankings are put together by Wikio – a news and blogs search engine and that also provides services for bloggers such as subscription buttons, vote buttons and more – and are based on backlinks: so the position of a blog depends on the number and weight of incoming links from other blogs. Only links found in the RSS feed are included and blogrolls are not taken into account. The weight of any given link increases according to how recently it was published.

Well done everyone!

  1. Brilliant to see so many well deserving blogs in the top 30, fabulous and congrats to everyone! xxx

  2. bumbling says:

Eeek! How did I get there!

    Well done to everyone xx

  3. English Grandma says:

    Yay, go girls…you’re all brilliant!

  4. Alex says:

If only wikio would actually reply to my emails about the registering of either my site or my wifes :)

Mines registered but doesn’t show up on a search and hers isn’t categorised as a parent blog. Had zilch back from them.

  5. Paula says:

Yay to everyone! Can’t believe I’m in there – last month they had me registered as an Entertainment blog and I sat at a not very entertaining 2151 – very pleased to have climbed so many places! xx

  6. jfb57 says:

I’m flabbergasted! I’m not sure how I ever got on the list but I seem to have gone from 87 to 27!!!

  7. karen - Allaboutheboys says:

Do you happen to know whose at no 31 : ) At the risk of sounding bah! humbug ! which I certainly don’t mean to but will probably be accused of. These lists are getting very samey. If they are only based on other blogs links, then this excludes the majority of bloggers who do it for themselves and people interested in their topics. Basically if you don’t run an event, gallery or workshop you don’t stand a chance of a high listing. Or am I misunderstanding ?

    • I only get to know the top 30 I’m afraid – you’ll have to wait for the full listings to go on line in a few days.
I do totally get what you are saying and hey, these listings aren’t the be all and end all for any of us I’m sure. To be fair, I myself don’t usually take part in the Gallery or workshops but I still squeezed on here.. so I guess it can’t all be about that. For example, I don’t even come close to making it on to the Tots 100 listing but yet I make it into the top 20 of the Wikio rankings so who knows?! x

      • karen - Allaboutheboys says:

Lol ! I was only joking about No 31. You are right there seems to be no correlation between the figures especially as I noticed (and they then commented themselves) that there was an american on the Tots site who wasn’t an expat and didn’t know how they had appeared so high up on the rankings. I won’t waste any more time on it.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
        Karen x

  8. Mummytips says:

I was also listed in the wrong category last month – so wow it’s pretty cool to make the top 10 I have to say – and with so many of my fav blogs too.
What a bit of news to get as I touch down in New York for BlogHer.

  9. PhotoPuddle says:

Well done to you and everyone on the list!!

  10. vegemitevix says:

Oh wow I’m excited! Well done everyone else cc

  11. Ooooh! How did you get the inside scoop??? Unsurprisingly, I’m not in top 30 (big congrats to everyone who is). But now I have to wait six more days to see where I’m placed!!! Hurry up the 8th… :)

  12. I’m still not sure how I ended up on there but I’m not complaining :D I’ve moved up 13 places this month!!

  13. Emma says:

I dont have a clue how I’ve ended up at number 13! So chuff! :) But then I would still be chuff if I was 199!! Just got to get them to change my blog name! :) Congrats to you! :D xx

  14. I’m with Nickie – haven’t a clue, and the tech jargon as to ‘how, why, where’ is lost on me.
Much like OH trying to explain how the DVD player works or my team talking Java code or C++… zzzzz…

Am most amused also because I do so little to promote the blog. Hmmm… must try harder. Hang on, that’s what my teacher said in high school.

  15. Susan Mann says:

Congratulations twinny. I am so happy for you. mwha xx

  16. dulwichmum says:

OHMYGOD! How lovely to find myself placed at number 11 on this list – it just goes to show you that every table will be different. Thanks for letting me know.

I have to say, just like allabouttheboys, I am actually rather sad that there are league tables at all – it introduces an element of competition that just tarnishes everything.

I don’t like the idea of cynically using key words to generate traffic – tricking people into visiting my blog. It was far more friendly out there when we were writing for our own satisfaction and to engage with new friends.

Some parasites are going to great lengths to manipulate and bully mummy bloggers into doing the bidding of PRs, they are trying to make a living for themselves.

Mummy blogging should be mummy driven. Why should we follow the American model here? The internet was supposed to be a new frontierless world. I didn’t start a blog to be told what my content should be.

  17. dulwichmum says:

    Thanks again, very much.

  18. I’m off to have a look at how the calculate it – assume that once everyone signs up for the service and gets themselves categorised properly people like me will drop down the list a lot!

Still nice to be appreciated even if momentarily
