Review: Gtech Power Sweeper

Following on from a blog post I wrote about my never-ending housework, I received a lovely email asking if I would like to give the Gtech Power Sweeper a test drive. Help with the housework? Yes please!

I have to say that I had pre-conceived and in fact out-dated views of what to expect from a sweeper but I take it all back. I was really impressed by the Cordless Floor Sweeper from Gtech I have to say. It is an ideal cleaning tool to help effortlessly clean the home. It picks up any debris from stubborn pet hairs to larger objects that have been spilled too such as rice, pasta or coffee granules. It’s definitely the must have tool for quick cleaning. Honestly, in the time it would normally take me to get the vacuum out of the cupboard and set up, Gtech’s Cordless Floor Sweeper would have already whizzed around the room and been put away. Perfect for keeping on top of things, especially with four very messy children to clean up after! A perfect example of when it comes into its own is at breakfast. I’m sure my children aren’t the only ones to leave more food on the floor than gets in their bellies but this makes light work of tidying up, especially as things like crumbs and cereal can be swept up in one go – no need to use different attachments like I do on my normal vacuum. And because it is so quick and easy to use, it means it can be done before we leave the house instead of having to come back from the school run and face the mess!

It has a detachable handle which makes it easy to store too but without the handle, it makes it perfect for stair cleaning. It is of course cordless so there are no wires and plugs to faff with and it is incredibly lightweight too so you can blitz the stairs in no time at all.

The sweeper can be used on all floors – from hardwood to carpet. So it really does make cleaning so much easier. I can’t wait to take this camping with us too – it will be absolutely perfect for sweeping the tent. And yes, my tent does have a carpet! You didn’t think that I roughed it under canvas, did you?!

On a serious note, it can save on bills too; the energy efficient sweepers cost just 1p to charge 3 times over. I found that when fully charged, the sweeper keeps going for at least 30 minutes which if you consider how quick it is to actually use, that is an awful lot of sweeping for very little energy. Oh and of course all of the dust and debris is collected in a cleverly concealed tray which means you’ll save even more money not having to buy dust bags and it is of course much more hygienic.

I have to say that I probably wouldn’t have thought to buy a sweeper in the past as it can’t do anything that my vacuum can do and to be honest, I thought it was just terribly outdated and inefficient. But now that I have one? I honestly wouldn’t be without it! This is definitely a whole new take on the sweepers of yesteryear (mainly of course because it is of course powered rather than just pushed around like the one my Nan had!) It definitely makes tidying up so much quicker and it is so lightweight to handle that it is effortless to use.

Anything that makes cleaning easier can only be a good thing, trust me!

A top tip. I have one of these and I can really vouch for it. Was great when I had a bad back and could not lift the hoover, and really makes light work of all the kids mess. I find one of the best advantages is that if you sweep up bits of lego, jewellry etc you can retrieve it immediately. Easier than sifting through a hoover bag.
