The A-Z of Me

A big thank you to the lovely Susan K Mann for tagging me in this meme which was started by Lauren over at The Real Housewife of Suffolk County. It has been an age since I took part in something like this but here goes, the A-Z of me!

ANORAK…Do you have a sad side?

Oh. Now this might not be such a surprise as I find it hard to hide my sad side *snort* I have an almost unhealthy obsession with yes, you’ve guessed it, the Duchess of Cambridge. I have even been known to stoop so low as to visit The Daily Fail online so that I can what she is wearing this week. I know, I know. I think I am actually beyond help. I went to see her wedding dress at Buckingham Palace with my lovely chum Karen and I think this only served to fuel my obsession. For the record, the dress was in-cred-i-ble in real life. I’ll never ever forget that day.

BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change?

My eyes! Not the colour, I rather like my dark brown eyes but I would change the fact that they are useless! I am in fact as blind as a bat. I wear contact lenses and when forced to, my glasses that I hate. I am far too chicken to ever do the laser thing though *shudder*

CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why?

Gary Barlow in ID Magazine

What better opportunity for a half naked picture of Mr Barlow? Oh, go on then, twist my arm.

Just one? Okay. It would have to be Mr Gary Barlow. Who knew that he would turn out to be the hot one? I’d like to pretend that I was an early adopter but I really wasn’t, I used to be a Robbie girl the first time around (and yes, the first time around was twenty years ago – I am that old) But me oh my has Mr Barlow improved with age. Bald spot and all, he is my numero uno.

DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?

I used to read lots of blogs through links on Twitter and I had been thinking about starting my own for a while but it was my lovely pal Susan who finally gave me the courage to start. My very first blog post was on 16th January 2010 called ‘Oh no she isn’t..’ about being forced to see a pantomime against my will. I think Susan started her blog around the same time as me too. I have had a few wobbles along the way but I’ve been blogging pretty much ever since. I’m loving it more than ever right now I have to say.

ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret?

I don’t really do regrets. I’m more of a live and learn kind of girl. But I suppose I could regret not spotting Mr Barlow’s hidden depths sooner.

FUNNY – who’s making you laugh?

My children. Every day. I suppose a mother has to say that but seriously, my children crack me up every single day.

GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?

I think I would put it towards a holiday for my lovely Dad. He has health problems and for the most part he just battles on without so much as a moan. Anybody else would have given up way before now but he is just incredible. The best Dad and Grandad in the world in fact.

HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination?

So many memories of so many fabulous holidays, I have to say. But I think our best holiday ever (and also the last time that I dared to wear a bikini) was to Skiathos in Greece about 10 years ago. It was just the most chilled out holiday ever and we did nothing but laze on the beach all day long.

IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit?

I’m sure my Other Half could reel off at least a hundred and one annoying habits if you asked him! But the habit that annoys me most about myself is not emptying the coffee grinds out of the filter machine. I always go to make more coffee and have to clean it out first and it annoys the heck out of me but I still don’t clean it out after I’ve used it. Useless.

JOKER…Whats your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh everytime you hear it}?

I have a memory like a sieve and I just don’t have the ability to retain jokes. In fact, can I add that in as another annoying thing about me? I’m easily amused though. And laugh at pretty much anything. Having four children addles the brain like that.

KENNEL… Do you have any pets?

We have a cat called Pixie who had four kittens in August and of course, I wanted to keep them all. One of the kittens, Coco, has gone to her new home now with some lovely friends of ours and Fat Elvis was supposed to be going to some other friends but they’ve split up quite out of the blue which means that he might not be going anymore. And we are definitely keeping Duchess and Marmalade so for now at least we have four cats.

LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?

I met my Other Half 17 years ago on a blind date on this very day in fact. I guess that makes it our anniversary of sorts! We are technically engaged but it’s far too tragic to have been engaged for this many years without ever having been married but I do have a corker of a ring at least.

MEAL… Whats your ultimate starter, main and dessert?

I’m sure that this won’t surprise you to learn but I love my food. But I have to say though that I just can’t resist a full on Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. And Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert.

NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?

In a hot tub with Mr Barlow somewhere very secluded. Failing that, right here with my family. (I have to say that, right?)

OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time?

These days just having a soak in the bath alone is a luxury! But I love to read. I write too, not just here on my blog but for pleasure and most definitely for my eyes only.

PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of?

Easy peasy – my babies! Seeing them come into the world and then watching them grow day by day makes my heart swell with pride.

QUEASY …What turns your stomach?

Needles. I’m absolutely petrified of them.

RELAX…How do you relax?

I love to read or watch trash on television.

SONG…Whats your favourite song of all time?

This is so hard. In fact it’s a running joke that I’m going to have the longest funeral ever because every time a song I love comes on the radio I always say ‘Oh, I want this one at my funeral too.’ But I absolutely love Nothing Compares 2 U but the original and by far the best version by Prince.

TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?

I’d have to say having my babies. That probably sounds bonkers and most people would want to forget the whole giving birth thing given the chance but I am actually one of those weirdos who enjoyed it. My labours were incredible experiences from start to finish and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.

UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?

I don’t think that there is anything that I haven’t shared at some point. I’m one of those annoying people who even shares pictures of their breakfast on Instagram for goodness sake!

VOCAL…. Who is your favourite artist?

I love so many that I could never choose a favourite. On my iPod right now though I’m loving Adele, Prince, Take That, Amy Winehouse, Noah and the Whale, Bruno Mars and Harper Simon. I never claimed to have good taste 😉

WORK….. What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?

I am pretty much living my dream of being a mummy and a housewife. I’m so fortunate that we were in a position for me to be able to give up work. I am a very lucky girl. Although I would really really love to one day own a coffee shop come bookshop. Wouldn’t that just be dreamy? I could sit and drink coffee, eat cake and read books all day.

XRAY…Any broken bones?

When I was little I broke my four fingers on my right hand. I was taking our dalmatian puppy Bilbo out for a walk and he spotted a cat, dived through a fence to chase it and my fingers got broken in the process. Ouchy!

YIKES…What’s been your most embarrassing moment?

I’m not very good with heights and my friends convinced me to go on the Big Wheel at the fair one year and I ended up in such a state that they had to stop the ride for me to get off. It took a long time to live that one down.

ZOO…. If you were an animal, which one would you be?

Without doubt a lion! All they ever seem to do is sleep all day. I could so do that.

And now I’m supposed to tag some more victims lucky bloggers to take part but I’m bound to tag somebody who has done it before or that doesn’t want to do it because I’m useless like that so I’ll leave it open for anyone who want to have a go! Do give me a shout if you do have a go though because I’d love to see yours too!

Lol! You made me chuckle with the ‘Love’ one.
Earlier this year, my partner and I finally got hitched after 11 years and 4 children together.
It feels no different after this long, but the kids were thrilled!!

Love. love, love this and am very tempted to write one on my blog. How wonderful to hear about your positive birthing experiences and your lust for Gary cracked me up. The underdog wins. Take that Robbie! Not sure Gazza ‘ll want to get in the hot tub with you now though, you’ve gone and revealed his bald spot. Had never noticed…. Can I work in your bookshop when you open it? I imagine a Notting Hill style affair. Pass the cake.

Yes you should definitely do this! For starters, your answers will be a million times more interesting than mine! Oh no, do you think I might have ruined my chances with Mr Barlow? I might have to delete the bald spot bit quick! And yes you can definitely work in my bookshop but I can’t see it being very profitable so I’ll only be able to pay you in cake, is that alright? 😉

Ahhh I can’t believe this is still going round. Thanks for joining in.
I’ve learnt loads about you and loved your answers.
I was also a late developer in the Gary Barlow department. Mark was always my favourite.
