Meet Miss Molly

My children have so many toys, in fact, at the end of the day when it comes to tidy up time I sometimes think they have too many toys! But there are some things that they come back to play with day after day and with my youngest two, that is definitely their dollies.

Dolly gets to go everywhere, if she’s lucky she is pushed around in her very own pushchair but often she is just lovingly dragged around by her hair *cough* Dolly gets to eat the delights cooked up in the plastic kitchen and sometimes even gets a turn on the swings. Dolly sometimes gets squished into a fire engine too but come bedtime, dolly gets to snuggle up tight. You don’t see the train set getting those perks.

The girls were sent a beautiful new rag doll called Molly from Silver Cross and she fitted straight in. No sooner was she out of her beautiful gift box then she was being introduced to the delights of eating plastic food while being taught the moves to Head Shoulders Knees and Toes. She has lovely cloth hair and a pretty bow headband. Her dress is in a lovely sunshiney yellow with beautiful layering and broderie anglaise trims and of course in true traditional rag doll style she is wearing big white bloomers. She has pretty ribbons on her soft cord shoes and I have to mention her sweet happy face with cute button nose. And of course, while I appreciate just how beautifully made she is and the amazing attention to detail which makes me reminisce about my own dollies when I was little, the girls just think that she is their new best friend. Which of course she is.

There is no doubt that these beautifully made traditional rag dolls make fabulous gifts with truly timeless appeal. It actually warms my heart to think that something as simple as a rag doll can give my girls as much pleasure today as they once gave me thirty something years ago. I’m a big softie like that.

Molly is part of the Classic Gift Collection from Silver Cross and she costs just £25.00. (She also has some friends who I am sure will be joining our ever expanding dolly collection at some point in the very near future!)

What toys do your children go back to play with time and time again? Are your little ones dolly mad too? Are you a bit like me and secretly love that your children play with the traditional toys that you had so you can get to relive your childhood? Or is that just me?!

You can now join Silver Cross over on Facebook and at the moment, they are holding an amazing competition. They’re giving you the chance to win not just one, but 15 fantastic presents for a lucky little boy or girl worth over £210! The prize includes a musical snowglobe, decorative picture frame, a moneybox, tooth and curl trinkets, a musical ball and Owl and the Pussycat character comforters, rattle sets, hug toys and beanies. Ahh she like Rag Dolly Anna which I loved but a bit posher! I think we all like seeing our children play with things that we liked. Bex is mostly out of toys now but Oscar has remained a big Lego fan since about 4. I think it’s great when they go back to the same things 🙂 Give Molly a hug from me X
