A photo a day for a whole leap year

Taking part in Silent Sunday last year made me start to take a real interest in taking photographs. For me it was about capturing those everyday moments, creating memories but even more so, seeing beauty in the simplest of things. I suddenly started to see things in a whole new way and while I don’t claim to have any technical skills, far from it in fact, it was something that I really started to enjoy. It’s amazing how much happier life can be when you can see the beauty in the smallest of things around you.

My lovely friend Mummy Limited took part in a 365 Project last year (and she is again this year too) and I absolutely loved following her progress so when January came along, there was no doubt that I wanted to have a go myself and take a photo a day for a whole leap year. When I started out, I wasn’t sure how long I would be able to keep it up. On one hand, one photo a day doesn’t sound like a really big challenge but it’s actually harder than you might realise, for me at least.

As much as I wanted my project to be about capturing the everyday, there are only so many photos you can take of the cat. Or frothy coffee come to that. Although both do feature heavily of course, this is me we’re talking about after all. But I’m so proud to be over half way through though. There have been days when I haven’t taken a picture and I’ve ‘cheated’ by catching up the next day but as far as possible, I have tried to keep to my own self imposed rule of a photo taken by me every single day.

You can catch up with my full 366 Project over on my Posterous blog here and I’d really love you to come and take a look.

I love the idea of taking a photo a day, I could certainly take it, but not sure I could manage to post everyday. Great memory of a year. GG

I wanted to keep the project separate from my main blog which is why I set it up over on Posterous but best of all, I can post on there literally with a click of a button on my iPhone. So in that respect, absolutely no effort required 😉

I think I take photos every day, but I’m impressed that you’re properly keeping up with it. Do love instagram, has definitely made my life happier.

I’m so with you on Instagram I absolutely love it. I follow some amazing people on there from all around the world and I love just how diverse it is. It feels like a nice bit of calm in the sometimes ‘loud’ world of social media 🙂
