Cawston Press up for review

Cawston Press has had a love affair with the apple lasting over a quarter of a century – gently pressing and blending different varieties for its ever-expanding and innovative range of all natural juices. I was lucky enough to be sent some to try out and they were just yummy.

The new ‘Sparkly Apple’ and ‘Sparkly Apple Ginger Beer’ (a unique take on a classic which also features lemon juice and a hint of chilli for extra bite) give us grown-ups a delicious and additive-free interesting soft drink options. Cawston uses no less than 75% pressed apple juice in the former, while 40% in the latter guarantees that the ginger zing is not overpowered.

Cawston Press’s 26 year experience has given it an ability to create beautifully balanced apple blends using some of the very best varieties. For instance, ‘Sparkling Apple’ and ‘Cloudy Apple’ feature no less than 6 varieties. Other drinks skilfully blend different apple combinations to balance with fruits and vegetables such as elderflower, rhubarb, carrot and even beetroot.

Cawston Press also prides itself in only using juice that has come from apples pressed with 48 hours of being picked. These apples are always picked at prime ripeness, are never cold stored nor turned into concentrate. In addition, the juices feature no artificial sweeteners, preservatives or colourings and any one 200ml glass will provide one of your 5-a-day.

These drinks are perfect for an alcohol free evening and I love them served with lots of ice and weather permitting of course, al fresco. As well as Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, Cawston Press juices and drinks are sold via Booths, independent stores and direct from www.cawstonpress.com. Priced at £2.79 for the 750ml Sparkling Apple/Sparkling Apple Ginger Beer or £2.09 for the 1 litre still juice cartons, they are an absolute bargain to boot.

This new ‘bubbly’ gets a huge thumbs up from me!

Disclaimer: I was very kindly sent a hamper of Cawston Press juices for the purpose of this review.
