The one where we didn’t forget

Yesterday was our anniversary. Nineteen whole years since a mutual friend set us up on a blind date. Well, I say blind date but actually it was more of a short-sighted date. He used to work in the office that I worked in, that’s how the mutual friend thing came about. He left for pastures new before I started working there so I had never met or seen him before. But when meeting up with our friend for lunch one day, he spotted me across a very busy road and she stepped in to play Cupid and set up the date. And the rest as they say, is history.

Happy anniversary (Mostly) Yummy Mummy BlogAmazingly we both actually remembered that it was our anniversary this year. I say amazingly because last year we both completely forgot! I know that some of you might be horrified at the thought of forgetting such a momentous date but actually it was pretty funny at the time.

It was late and we were sat watching Cuckoo on tv (is that ever coming back for another series by the way?) Anyway it must have been somebody’s anniversary in the show because we both turned to each other and said “Oh shit!” as the penny dropped at exactly the same time. The date had completely sneaked up on us but I think the fact that we had both forgotten made it alright. In fact it was more than alright, it was hilarious at the time. I guess you had to be there ha!

So what’s the secret of being together for nineteen years? I’m not sure that there is one. But being able to still laugh together surely has to be a be small part of it? That along with the understanding that I always get the third Walnut Whip.

Happy anniversary! I rarely remembers ours either but then I think you’re a bit like me and celebrate the every day rather than the once a year. It’s so nice .

I hope you had a lovely day together.
I haven’t had a Walnut Whip for ages. How on earth do you manage to get the third one? If we have a box of Magnums my husband always gets the third one! In fact, why do they sell them in packs of 3?! Surely 4 would be easier and fairer. xx
