Slendertone Abs – up for review

As you might already know, over the last month or so I have been trialling the new Slendertone Abs belt. I wrote about getting started here. I was planning on writing a post a couple of weeks in to let you know how I was getting on but in all honesty, the results I saw were so drastic and so fast that there didn’t seem to be much point. Does it work? In a word – YES! In four short weeks, my stomach is flatter and firmer than it has been in over eight years. I had high hopes for the Abs Belt having used and loved other Slendertone products in the past (my reviews of the Face and Bottom can be found here) But even as a Slendertone fan, I was amazed by the results I saw in such a short time. 

If you’ve never used a Slendertone device before, then it can be quite strange to get used to at first. With the Abs belt, you can not only feel your muscles contracting and clenching but also see it. It’s not painful but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted! The belt itself is made from really soft material and the velcro fastening allows you to pull it on tight and there are gel pads on the inside. The pads are very sticky so they stay in place but they’re not at all uncomfortable. In fact, you can’t even feel them when they are on. The only thing I would say though is that you do need to take the belt on and off carefully to get the most wear out of the pads then always remember to use the covers when it isn’t in use.

The controller is really easy to use – you simply select the programme you want then gradually increase the intensity to a level that suits you. I moved up quite quickly at first I think the key is to finding a level that is still bearable but so that you can still feel it working. Then when it becomes comfortable, I move up in increments of 10. Over the four weeks I have gone from level 30 to level 95. I’m still working on getting all the way to 150! To get the best results, you need to use the belt five times a week to start with and I think if you make it part of your usual daily routine like I have, then you’re much more likely to stick to it. I’ve been using it at least five times a week for thirty minutes each time. 

On a practical note, I love that I can do other things while using the belt. When I first started I would just sit and concentrate on getting the intensity levels just right but now I can happily strap it on while getting on with other urgent tasks like ironing or reading a book. Ahem. It’s worth noting that it has a superb battery life too. It needs charging before your very first use which you do using the mains charger provided, but since then I have only needed to charge it once. It lasts for weeks. The controller also warns you when the battery life is low so there is no danger of it running out on you mid session.  

The Slendertone Abs belt promised me a firmer and more toned tummy in four weeks. Did it deliver on that promise? Yes! Without question! My body has done a quite frankly amazing job of housing four babies and although I have never seen my tummy as an issue as such, there’s no denying that my pregnancies had taken their toll – as is expected of course! But I never thought that I would see the day when I was truly happy again with my tummy like I am now. The only down side is that I can no longer keep my jeans up! Ha! Not only is my tummy firmer and flatter but I have lost a whopping five and a half inches off my waist. Five. And. A. Half. Inches. I KNOW!

I’m not a big believer in quick fixes and I don’t think for a minute that Slendertone is that. I have seen incredible results – no doubt about it – but I plan to carry on using the belt to maintain and even hopefully improve on this. I find that I tend to move less in the winter months so I am much more careful about what I eat. I don’t do diets as such, it’s all about moderation for me. So actually the Slendertone Abs couldn’t be a more perfect boost right now. If you’re hoping to see amazing results like I have, I don’t think you can use the belt as an excuse for finishing off all those mince pies mind! I just see the belt as just another sensible part of my exercise routine. And one that really really works for me! 

I think it goes without saying that I highly recommend the new Slendertone Abs belt. I couldn’t be happier with the results. In fact I am completely over the moon!     Ok so on the strength of your review I couldn’t resist! Bought one. Have been using for almost 5 weeks, 5 x a week for 30 mins a time at around 70 on the settings. During this time I have exercised a lot and cut down on what I eat and have lost nine pounds. And my abs look exactly the same!!!!! Where am I going wrong? Am so demoralised

      Oh no I’m sorry to hear that! Obviously I can only report back on my own experience so I’m not sure that I’m best placed to offer any advice. The one thing I would say is that by week 5, I was on a much higher level than 70. It’s all about finding the right level for you of course but maybe it is time to crank it up a little? I’d really recommend that you follow that instructions and work your way up through the programmes as well as working up to a much higher level than 70. Or maybe you just need to wait a little longer to see real results? It sounds like you’re doing well though so I wouldn’t give up 🙂

    Me again! This time with a super hot insider Slendertone tip I just HAVE to share with you!!! My mom read that you can revive your wearing out pads my rubbing a few drops of that clear no-water required hand wash stuff onto the pads. (Do you know the stuff I mean? Fits in your handbag, kind of a clear gel.) And you know what… IT WORKS!! My pads were definitely dying and I was about to cough up for yet another set of overly priced pads, so I gave it a shot. Suddenly they had a new lease of life! I keep adding more after each session before I put the covers on. Works a treat. You’re welcome. 😉

    Im on week 2 and I am using level 7 80/80…..I can see my abs getting firmer….but im am combi ing it with a healthy eating programme…..u have to put the work in to see results…but yes I would recommend getting a slendertone abs belt.

    Mine arrived today, I’ve attempted to try it out but it keeps beeping at me 😥 is this because I need to fully charge it before I use it?
