Birchbox up for review

I have tried (and loved) lots of beauty boxes before so when Birchbox got in touch and asked if they could send me their February box to review here on my blog, I jumped at the chance!

Birchbox is a subscription service and for £10 each month, you are sent a selection of beauty and lifestyle products to try. Each month you receive five luxe samples and you can even create your own beauty profile online so that they will be tailored for you. You can cancel the rolling subscription at any time it is totally flexible. Or if you prefer, you can pay ahead for six months at a saving of £10 (1 free box) or twelve months at a saving of a whopping £30 (which works out to be 3 free boxes!) You can also earn reward points each month with every box that can then be used on your beauty favourites in the Birchbox eshop. All of the sample products that are sent out in the boxes are available to buy of course.

So what’s in the box? This month it has to be said is an absolute cracker and if you hurry, you can still get your hands on one too! We have an Urbanveda Purifying Daily Facial Wash which is an all natural face wash to cleanse, help minimise pores and absorb excess oil. This is actually a brand that I have tried and loved before so I was really pleased to see this! An Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner which promises to be a foolproof liquid liner and has a precision pen tip to ensure a tidy line. There is even a tutorial card full of handy tips. A Leighton Denny nail colour mine was in Leading Lady which is a gorgeous dusky pink colour and will match my new coat perfectly – what are the chances? Ha! Seriously though, I adore Leighton Denny polishes. Next we have the Beauty Protector Protect & Oil which is a nourishing hair oil to protect against UV rays, heat and breakage. An absolute hair saver for my poor heat savaged hair. It’s not a huge bottle but like most oils, a little goes a very long way and you only need to use a couple of drops a time. The Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Shower Gel has a paraben free formula with red tea, grape seed and milk thistle to refresh and hydrate skin. It’s a really generous size and best of all, it smells absolutely amazing! And as a little lifestyle extra, there was a sneaky Green & Blacks treat size bar! Yum! As you can imagine, that didn’t last long!

Birchbox comes beautifully packaged in a box that can be reused and also a little drawstring bag. I love that they include little cards with information about the products and lots of hints and tips. The website is also packed full of reviews, features and tutorials which is always handy. Personally, I love the idea of getting a treat in the post every month and Birchbox seem to get the balance of beauty, make-up and lifestyle just right where other boxes don’t always. Of course the thing with beauty boxes is that not every choice will suit everyone but as somebody that likes to try different products out, I don’t mind that so much if I feel that I am getting overall good value. Besides, I can honestly say that I loved every single thing in this February box. The nail varnish alone was more than worth the subscription price for me but I loved the perfect mix of beauty products, make-up and an extra chocolately treat for good measure. Spot on.

I think that Birchbox is a lovely treat for yourself or even as a gift for somebody else. I have to say that I was so chuffed with this box that I have signed up for a subscription myself. Birchbox has partnered with Lulu Guinness for the March box and I can’t wait to see what’s inside……

Disclaimer: For the purpose of this review, I was sent one February Birchbox free of charge as shown here. All opinions are of course my own. As are the shiny hair, perfect eye flicks, newly mattified skin, lovely smelling armpits and gorgeous new manicure.
