..so it’s what I wore
Pattern shift dress – H&M, silver coin necklace – H&M, watch, Michael Kors, navy opaques – Marks & Spencer, Bali boots in grey suede – c/o Seven Boot Lane
It feels like ages since I did an actual outfit post here and to be honest with you, it’s because I am sick to death of everything in my wardrobe. Nothing to wear argh! Hardly any of my old stuff fits properly anymore and I can’t afford to replace everything. A lot of my old winter dresses just drown me now or just don’t fit right. Slouching off the shoulders or other such annoyances. Ugh. I have sold some bits on eBay but I must be completely rubbish at it as I never sell anything for anywhere near what I paid for them. Some lucky people have stung me for some absolute bargains. Ouch. And then of course instead of spending what pennies I have made on replacing things for me, it always seems to get eaten up by other much more important things. I know it can’t just be me who feels guilty about spending money on themselves. So silly. Sigh.
Anyway, I spotted this shift dress in H&M and it was so cheap but even more cheerful that I couldn’t resist treating myself. I absolutely love the print it has a mid-century feel, don’t you think? It has a high neck and my boobs are the one part of my body that point blank refuse to shrink so I sized up so that I didn’t feel strangled. (A problem that I suspect only girls who are blessed in this department quite understand.) But also I bought this dress to wear now with opaques but come springtime, I want to wear it with bare legs so keeping it looser in style means that there is no danger of flashing my bum on the school run. And there is no is-it-a-dress-or-is-it-a-tunic debate with it worn this way. It is definitely a dress. I absolutely love the loose fit though and I can see this being a really versatile little dress for months to come. Listen at me defending my fifteen quid purchase, there goes that guilt thing again! Ha!
This necklace is also from H&M but from last summer if I remember rightly. It has a chunky chain and shiny little Roman coins I love it. Although I suspect that the coins might not actually be from ancient Rome. Ahem. I’ve worn the dress today with my new Bali boots from Seven Boot Lane. I absolutely love these boots with this dress, the soft grey suede just works so well. And I can’t wait to lose the opaques on this whole outfit when spring has finally sprung and I dare to bare my legs. I can picture it already.
So that was me, what have you been wearing this week? Are you thinking ahead to spring too?
