We were invited along to Junction 32 outlet shopping village this week and we had such a fun morning. It is somewhere that we haven’t been for years and it has changed quite a bit since we were last there so it was nice to have a really good wander and have a look at all the shops. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and there is even an outdoor play park too. There’s a huge range of shops with everything from fashion to footwear, sports and outdoor to homeware, gifts and accessories to luggage.
There is just about everything you could need for getting ready to go back to school at Junction 32. From school coats to plimsolls, lunch boxes to stationery there is a whole host of shops offering terrific savings. There are outdoor shops like Trespass, Regatta and Mountain Warehouse with ranges of coats, fleeces and waterproofs. The Works is the perfect place to stock up on stationery with amazing discounts and I even treated myself to a diary so that I might at least attempt to be more organised come September. My teenagers have to supply all their own stationery now that they are in sixth form and there was everything they needed there from notepads to folders, pens and pencils. There are some great sports shops too like Nike and Adidas so perfect for that gym kit and with huge savings to be had.
We also got to try out the Clarks Outlet measure and fit service while we were there and I have to say that it was the easiest back to school shoe shopping that we have ever done! At Junction 32 they have set up an outdoor measuring service which is quite frankly a stroke of genius. Obviously being outdoors removes congestion from the store but it’s so much nicer for the children too being in such a friendly, spacious environment rather than being inside a stuffy busy store at this time of year. There were trained fitters who measured each of my girls’ feet using the iPad gauge and they got to choose a character and enter their age too. The service didn’t feel at all rushed in fact quite the opposite. The fitter who saw us seemed to really take her time to carefully measure their feet for length, width and depth and she was so good with the kids. I was seriously impressed.
We were given a little booklet with their shoe sizes written down then we went inside and were able to select our shoes from a huge (and I really do mean HUGE) range in store. When we had chosen them, we took a ticket and were soon seen by another fitter who made sure that the shoes we had chosen fitted correctly and still had room for growth. Obviously foot shapes and sizes can mean that some styles fit better than others and it was reassuring to have them checked properly and all that expert advice on hand rather than just picking them off a shelf. As if happens, my seven year old was in between width sizes when she was first measured so the fitter recommended that we went with a width size down to get the perfect fit in the style she had chosen.
We managed to choose some lovely new shiny school shoes and trainers for PE for them both and they were all fitted perfectly. To give you an idea of the savings, I found that school shoes in Clarks Outlet were typically between £20-£25 which really is an amazing saving. Plus you are still getting the quality of shoes that you would expect from Clarks and that expert fitting. I really loved the way that the service was split into measuring and then fitting, it works brilliantly. In theory you might be queueing twice but actually it is much more efficient that way – I will definitely be back!
Also this summer at Junction 32 they have a free watch promotion. When you buy shoes from the Clarks Outlet store they are offering a free childrens’ snap on watch as part of a campaign to encourage children to tell the time using an analogue clock. There are five bright colours to choose from.
We had such a lovely time at Junction 32 and I can now say that we are definitely ready to go back to school! I must say a huge thanks to the team there who made us so welcome on our arrival we really did feel like VIPs for the day!
