Eve Sleep Mattress up for review

I’m sure I remember reading somewhere that we spend something like a third of our lives in bed. A third of our lives. That’s an awful long time, isn’t it? So I don’t know about you but I want to make it as comfortable as possible. And that’s where the lovely people at Eve Sleep can help. Eve Sleep aim to simplify the process of buying one of life’s most important purchases – the humble mattress.

Eve Sleep only sell online and only sell one mattress which they believe suits the vast majority of people. And because they sell them direct, they pass on the savings directly to their customers. It is designed and engineered in the UK using the highest quality materials using a high quality memory foam for body support, with a natural latex top layer which gives a bit of bounce. It is 10 inches deep and has a breathability which gives a cooler sleep than you get with traditional memory foam.

When Eve Sleep got in touch asking if I would like to choose a mattress to review, it couldn’t have come at a better time as I was unhappy with our own mattress. We had never been quite happy with it since buying it a couple of years ago and had even resorted to buying a memory foam topper for it but it still wasn’t quite right. It was okay but without meaning to sound like Goldilocks, it was far from perfect. But of course it was such a large investment that I didn’t feel justified in replacing it because it wasn’t quite good enough. One of the things that first impressed me about Eve though was that they totally understand what a big purchase a mattress can be and that the mattress is right for you. So much so in fact that they offer a 100 night sleep trial so if it doesn’t suit, they pick it up and offer a full refund. You can’t ask much better than that – especially for a Goldilocks like me! I learnt the hard way that 10 minutes laying on a mattress in a shop isn’t enough to choose a mattress for life!

In order that I could get the full customer experience, I was able to order my own mattress online and I have to say that it couldn’t have been easier. The website itself was clear and easy to navigate. Eve only sell one type of mattress so there is no going around in circles trying to work out which one might be best for you, you simply select the size you need. It’s worth noting too that they offer both standard UK sizes and IKEA sizes too and all mattresses come with a 10 year guarantee. They offer free UK delivery and of course it is all arranged at the click of a button. The mattress arrived quickly, within just a couple of working days, and I was kept fully updated with the delivery and dispatch details along the way.

When it arrived in a box, I couldn’t believe that a whole mattress was in there. It is carefully wrapped up inside the box and as you open it, it is like you can see it come to life before your very eyes as it inflates to it’s full size! It takes literally seconds to open up I wish I had been able to catch it on video in hindsight! I never thought I’d say this about a mattress either but it really is a good looking thing. I love the yellow edges!

Prices vary according to the size of the mattress of course but Eve only sell online as I said before and missing out the middle man really does have a huge impact on the cost. I know that I was really pleasantly surprised given the premium quality that the prices start at just £350 for a single up to £850 for a humongous 7 foot x 7 foot mattress. Not forgetting of course that all mattresses come with a very generous 10 year guarantee plus if you are not happy, just let them know within 100 days and they will pick it up for free and give you a full refund.

That first night using our new Eve mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. It’s fair to say that I am fussy about my mattresses but I have never slept on a mattress quite like it. To say that it is comfy doesn’t come close to doing it justice it is beyond comfy! We have been sleeping on it for about five or six weeks now and originally, I didn’t intend to write this review until nearer to the end of the 100 day trial period but in all honesty, I couldn’t wait to tell you about it! I would only ever recommend something that I hand on heart truly love you know that and actually, it has to be said that reviewing something as big as a mattress does come with a huge responsibility for me. But it is no exaggeration to say that this mattress has changed my life. Every night that I get into bed, I have that same sleeping-on-a-cloud feeling that I had the very first time I slept on it. Comfiest. Mattress. Ever. Eve Sleep have stripped away the jargon and confusion and what you are left with is a product that is simply beautiful and beautifully simple. And one thing is for sure, I won’t be sending it back after the 100 day trial!

I have never heard of this brand before but we are in desperate need of a new mattress – our current one we bought after our wedding 6 years ago and having gone through two pregnancies and sharing it with little babies it isn’t up to scratch any more. We bought a new bed earlier this year and have been shopping around for a mattress ever since! Thanks for the great review x

I bought this mattress based on your recommendation and severely regret it. I don’t know how you can say it’s like sleeping in a cloud. More like a board!

The mattress has a top layer of about 2 inches that’s really soft and squidgy but once you’ve sunk into that the lower foam is really, really hard. I imagine that’s the only way they can make foam last ten years! You can’t roll over easily either because of the squidgy top layer, you have to lift yourself up and lie down in a new position. And it makes sort of fart noises when you try to move about.

Maybe you have the original version with a latex top layer. They changed it recently without being very upfront about it.

What upsets me most about eve is how they remove any negative reviews from the internet. Their own website says they ‘moderate’ reviews, but having nothing lower than four stars must constitute false advertising.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re not happy with your new mattress. As far as I’m aware, I have the original design which like you say has a different top layer so obviously I can only comment on my own experience which is in effect a different mattress. I know that they still offer the 100 day trial though. Are you still within that period of time? Either way I would definitely get in touch with Eve’s customer service team if you’re really this unhappy with it. Buying a mattress is such a big commitment and I like to think that the whole 100 day trial thing shows how much Eve understand this! I’m sorry I can’t be of any more help but I hope Eve will be able to offer you some assistance.
