Happy Halloween from Sainsbury’s!

Is it too early to be talking about Halloween? Ahh I don’t think so! And anyway, I can’t wait to share this news with you!

This autumn Sainsbury’s will be offering a host of creepy character costumes for every member of the family (even the dog! Yes really!) Nothing new there you might think but actually, Sainsbury’s TU have made big changes making their dress up products safer this Halloween. The costumes now meet the British Nightwear Flammability Standard, which is the highest level of testing in existence.

You may remember that last year there was a lot of talk in the press about fire safety on children’s dress up costumes. As a result, Sainsbury’s announced in May that this year they would be carrying out a full safety review of all their Halloween costumes. Sainsbury’s have looked at every detail of their children’s dress up range to improve safety, going over and above what is required by law. Now they are proud to confirm that all children’s dress up outfits sold in stores and online meet the British nightwear flammability safety standard, the toughest standard that currently exists. Such an amazing step as I’m sure you will agree!

We were sent these spooky costumes for my youngest two to try out in time for Halloween. The spine tingling skeleton suit comes complete with a dayglo tutu and mask – so cute! And the eerie zombie witch dress comes with an amazing blue wig with a veil. It really is a fantastic range this year at the great prices you might expect from a supermarket but most important of all, they all come with the reassurance that they are now as safe as can be. These new costumes are available in Sainsbury’s supermarkets now or online.

Well done Sainsbury’s in leading the way on this one! And a huge thank you too for these amazing new costumes for my girls!

Brilliant news! I saw Claudia Winkleman’s interview the other day and it terrified me. I was thinking that we shouldn’t have pumpkins etc because of the fire risk with these costumes so it’s great that one supermarket at least is doing their bit for fun and safety.

It’s such a good move on Sainsbury’s part! We’ve been using the little battery operated tea light candles for our pumpkins for years now. So much safer plus you don’t get that horrible slowly being cooked by a candle whiff πŸ˜‰

I sent your post to my OH and he went to Sainsbury’s that day and bought Oliver a costume! He was thinking about going to Tesco cos it’s only round the corner but changed his mind and popped in to town to Sainsbury’s πŸ™‚
