Mother’s Day makes with Cath Kidston

Few gifts are more thoughtful than special handmade ones, so this Mother’s Day Cath Kidston have teamed up with three of their favourite makers to bring you their Mother’s Day Make series – three beautiful pressies for Mum for you to try your hand at making at home or even for you to make with your own children. There is a patchwork cushion to make, a very special rosette and last but by no means they have turned the subject of one of my very own favourite SS16 prints – the hydrangea – into paper works of art. I was sent a box of craft goodies from Cath Kidston so that I could have a go at making the paper hydrangeas myself.

There is full step by step guide over the the Cath Kidston blog that you can read here. It tells you exactly what you need to make the flowers plus there are full instructions showing you how to make them. I have to confess that I can get in a bit of a twist with fiddly craft projects but honestly, this how to couldn’t be easier to follow – even for me!

I love the effect of the crepe paper and the soft colours give that lovely faded look that you also get with a real hydrangea. I couldn’t resist making different coloured flowers as they all look so pretty together there in the jug. Best of all of course, these are a gift that will never fade away – they will look this pretty all year round!

I can’t tell you just how much I enjoyed making the hydrangeas and I was absolutely over the moon with the final result. Once I had made my first flower, I was flying!  I could hardly believe that I was capable of making something quite so pretty and hopefully you can see just how much time and love went into making them.
