Happy Easter from Matalan

I can’t believe that Easter is almost upon us? I know that it falls early this year but it still seems to have come around really quickly. I swear I say this every year but time really is flying by! Where did February go?!

Anyway, I’m not complaining I love this time of year. We are lucky this year in that Easter falling early means that we get even more time off school, I don’t know about you? We have the Easter weekend plus a couple of teacher training days added on for good measure, then go back to school for a few days before breaking up for the two week holiday. The perfect excuse to spend proper quality time together as a family – I can’t wait. And to make it even lovelier, Matalan sent us this amazing hamper packed full of goodies from their Easter range!

Come rain or shine (and let’s face it, it really can go either way at this time of year!) Matalan have come up with some really fun ideas for you and your family to do this Easter if you are spending it at home, or ideas on places to visit to keep them entertained. There is everything you can think of from Easter egg hunts and picnic sets, baking kits and craft sets, gardening sets and games, crayons and colouring books.

My youngest two love to bake and it’s so nice to have more time for things like this in the school holidays. We were sent a gorgeous Easter cupcake decoration set with fancy cases and little bunny flags and also this great cookie cutter set which includes bunny, egg and chick shapes. Each set is just £3 which is amazingly good value. We couldn’t resist making some gingerbread bunnies and added raisins and dried cranberries for their eyes and mouth. Too cute! (You can read my simple gingerbread recipe here if you need one.)

Then we tried our hand at making some Easter cards. The set makes four cards each with different designs and includes everything you need to get making. There are foam stickers to make the cards 3D and best of all googly eyes! It was a lovely way to spend an hour and of course they now have lovely cards to give. I’m hoping one of them might even be for me!

Our school hold an Easter egg decorating competition every year so we got some practice in with this little kit. It only costs £3 but includes 6 foam eggs, paints, a paintbrush, glue, sequins, ribbon, stickers and various Easter themed card shapes. The good thing about these is that there is no danger of dropping them and cracking your creations of course!

It isn’t quite picnic weather here yet but we have a fab insulated bag and matching rug tucked away for when it is. We have started to venture out into the garden though and my nine year old was very keen to put the magnifying glass and bug keeper jar to the test. Sometimes though it really is the simple things that are the best and they had hours of fun with the frisbee and bubbles.

We were sent some books to read, colouring books, crayons and pencils which will be perfect for those lazy mornings at home, or even those rainy days that we are bound to have or great for packing away for holidays too. There was even a grown up colouring book for me too so there really is something for everyone!

As you can see, we were sent a really great selection of goodies from Matalan and I have to say that I was impressed with just how much the Easter range has to offer. So many good ideas to keep us all entertained (whatever the weather!) and such good value too. Do check them out either online or in store now!
