Now I’m not going to lie to you here, the best thing about Easter for me has to be the chocolate. And not just any chocolate but chocolate eggs! Why is it that Easter egg chocolate tastes even nicer than ordinary chocolate? Is there an actual scientific reason? Anyway, when the lovely people over at Hotel Chocolat got in touch asking if I would like to try out their range of Scrambled Eggs this year, they didn’t need to ask twice!
I do love the ‘Scrambled Eggs’ name. Obviously a play on words but then of course the eggs come decorated with a scramble of whirls and chocolate drizzles and are presented in a beautiful foiled box and each come with six delicious pralines. I was sent all four to put to the taste test and as you might imagine, they did not disappoint. With white, dark, caramel and milk there is an egg to suit just about everybody’s taste.
The white comes with a white chocolate hollow egg with six extra smooth white chocolate pralines. The dark is a 70% dark hollow chocolate egg with six intense and smooth dark chocolate hazelnut giandujas. The caramel is a caramel chocolate hollow egg with six super smooth caramel chocolate pralines. And last but by no means least the milk is a 40% milk chocolate hollow egg with six super smooth milk chocolate pralines.
As you can see, the eggs themselves are hollow but that is some seriously thick chocolate there. They took some breaking in to, let me tell you! Each of the eggs cost £15 which I think is a great price for such a good sized egg especially as it includes six praline or giandujas chocolates. They are seriously good.
Hotel Chocolat have a really great range of Easter treats this year and I have to say that I think that these Scrambled Eggs are so good that I would leave them to the grown-ups and treat the children to maybe some chocolate bunnies or chicks instead of which Hotel Chocolat happen to have a very nice range too! But Easter is not just for children you know! No, I think these particular eggs would make the perfect luxury treat for yourself (or somebody else if you were feeling very generous!)
Disclaimer: For the purpose of this review I was provided with press samples of each of the Scrambled Eggs from Hotel Chocolat but all words and opinions are of course my own
