What I Wore: The little red bag edition

It’s Wednesday..

..so it’s what I wore

What I Wore: The little red bag edition (Mostly) Yummy Mummy Blog

Denim jacket – c/o Zalando, white tee – H&M, black tutu skirt – La Redoute, black opaques – M&S, Lexi kitty flats – ASOS, red double zip bag – Cath Kidston, bean necklace – Tiffany, sweetie bracelets – Links of London, watch – Michael Kors

You know when you decide that you have a gap in your wardrobe? And if only you had That One Thing it would somehow make your whole wardrobe suddenly fall into place? Well, I had a little red bag shaped hole in my wardrobe. I convinced myself that this one simple accessory would breath life into every outfit. I had been doing big heart eyes at this red leather double zip bag from Cath Kidston for ages. And thanks to a stroke of luck, it is now mine! You see, I entered a blogger competition with Cath Kidston a few weeks ago (you might remember my Gnorris the Gnome post here?) and I ONLY WENT AND WON! The prize was – wait for it – A SHOPPING SPREE IN A CATH KIDSTON STORE! I honestly felt like all my birthdays had come at once!

Cath Kidston is my favourite shop in the whole wide world so you can imagine my excitement? I couldn’t believe that this bag could finally be mine and it was even more gorgeous in the flesh too. It’s a lovely deep red in the softest of leathers *swoon* Mr Mostly made me promise that I would spend every penny on myself and not the house or the children for once. As he said, when would I ever go out and spend £250 all on myself? Erm.. never! I debate over buying myself the smallest of things these days – it’s so silly I know but I just can’t help it! But actually, once I got into the shop it became much easier than I thought to spoil myself for once – I’m not going to lie here I was like a kid in a sweet shop! I shared a photo over on Instagram if you want to take a peek but not only did I buy this perfect little red bag but I also treated myself to two beautiful dresses, a wallet and a notebook. Oh and a packet of tissues! Because I can never resist them winking at me at the till! Ha!

For me, a little crossbody bag is essential for everyday use. On big days out I might need a huge handbag to carry around everything but the kitchen sink but when I am just nipping out to school or into the village and only need my purse, keys and phone, this is perfect. And that splash of red instantly makes every outfit look a million times better! I LOVE IT!

Now back to todays outfit. I wasn’t sure if I could pull off this tutu skirt at first but heck, I’m going to be thirty nine on Friday, if I can’t wear what I want now then when can I? I have dressed it down with a simple white tee and denim jacket. Perfectly acceptable attire for the school run and coming home to clean the bathrooms. Ahem. Oh and the kitty flats are making yet another appearance. I make no apologies for this. Best. Shoes. Ever. They make me smile every time I look at them. But that bag THAT BAG is what makes this whole outfit for me *squeak*
