Clinique Chubby in the Nude up for review. I have visions of that title bringing all sorts of interesting traffic to my blog. Ahem. I daren’t even look up the hashtag on social media. Can you imagine? Ahh well. Here are my thoughts on the new beauty must have from Clinique. There are definitely no other kinds of nudes on this blog. Just the makeup kind promise.
First up I have to say that I am a big fan of Clinique and have been forever. Clinique was the first proper beauty counter that I ever visited as a teenager so they have held a special place in my heart ever since. I still remember the giddy excitement from playing with the little slidey bar things to work out my skin type (remember those?) and entering the ever so grown up world of Clinique and their magical Three Step Skincare. These days, I do like to shop around a bit more but I must admit that there are some things that I will always go back to Clinique for. My skin loves it. And who can a resist a Bonus Time? Not I!
Anyway, when I heard about the release of the new Chubby in the Nude foundation, I loved the sound of it so decided to treat myself. I am a bit sausage fingered when it comes to the application of makeup so anything that comes in a chubby stick form is always going to appeal to me. I love the sticks for my lips, eyes and cheeks so what could be easier than a foundation stick? It’s basically like colouring in! I went for 06 Intense Ivory which is one of the lighter shades but it works perfectly for me.
The good thing about this little stick is that you can use it for touch ups or full face coverage. It builds from sheer to moderate coverage but has a really natural finish that I love. I apply mine by drawing strokes across my face on my forehead, cheeks and chin (okay so I totally draw cats whiskers on my cheeks but that is strictly between me and my mirror okay?) Then I use a sponge beauty blender for a seamless finish (I’m loving the Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge that came in my latest Birchbox at the minute. It’s worth subscribing this month for this product alone seriously!)
I have what I suppose would be described as problem skin. In the last year, my hormones have gone berserk to put it mildly and my skin (and hair) have really suffered as a result. I do all the right things. I double cleanse morning and night, don’t smoke, don’t drink, eat well and drink enough water to sail a ship but still my hormones wage war against me. I have uneven skin tone, redness, dry patches, acne scars and Mount Vesuvius size spots. I’m sounding more attractive by the minute here, aren’t I? Ha! Actually though, I don’t let my skin get me down. If I wanted to hide my problem skin then it would take an awful lot of work in the form of primers, concealers and full on heavy duty foundations but honestly? That just isn’t for me. I just can’t stand the feel of heavy makeup on my skin. I prefer to have a lighter more natural base and no, this Chubby in the Nude doesn’t cover all my imperfections but I’m okay with that. I’d rather look like me who is a little blurred around the edges than me wearing a mask. If you have problem skin and unlike me want full coverage then this probably isn’t the right foundation for you though.
Would I recommend it? Well if you are looking for a touch up on the go or like me, want a more natural looking base then yes! Absolutely! It is probably worth popping along to a Clinique counter to play around with one to make sure you get the right shade for you though as it comes in so many different colours. I think I paid something like £23 for mine and you use so little at a time with it being in a stick form that I can imagine it will be really long lasting and therefore great value. A huge thumbs up from me! It the cat’s whiskers! Ha!
P.S. I haven’t been asked by anyone or even paid so much as a bean to write this review. I bought this Clinique product myself and loved it so much that I thought you might want to hear about it too!
