Marley Spoon think that cooking should be a pleasure but they know that full lives and busy schedules can sometimes make eating well a challenge and that is where their recipe boxes come to the rescue. Right now, they are celebrating Global BBQ Month with the addition of some really yummy summer recipes and we were sent a box to try out last week.
The way Marley Spoon works is that you fist select the size of the box you need – either for two adults or a family, then how many meals you would like that week – from two to four and you then choose the recipes that you would like to be sent. Delivery is free and you can skip a week if you need to. This isn’t the first time that I have tried Marley Spoon and I have to say that I am always impressed with how well the food is packaged. It always arrived in perfect condition which I know is a concern when people order these sort of recipe boxes. The fresh ingredients such as the meat, yoghurt etc are stored in a special cool bag then the rest of the ingredients for each recipe are in separate bags. All the additional packaging is in brown paper so it’s all recyclable too.
Each recipe card sets out exactly what ingredients you need and these of course correspond which your bag of produce. The cards even tell you what utensils you will need to cook with and how long they will take to cook. The special recipes for Global BBQ Month are crying out to be made on a barbeque of course but if you haven’t dug yours out of the shed yet this year, then they can also be cooked in an oven or on the grill. The recipe cards give really simple step by step instructions and include lots of photos too. I think of myself as being quite a keen cook but even if you’re not, you really can’t go wrong with these recipes. Marley Spoon make everything so easy.
We tried the Anglo-Indian Pork burgers with Roasted Carrots and Raita first and it was absolutely delicious. Nothing can beat a homemade burger of course and these really were yummy. The roasted carrot in the salad was a really nice addition too it worked so well and isn’t something that I would have thought to do myself.
Then we tried the Honey and Mustard Chicken with Apple Potato Salad and Warm Fennel which again was absolutely delicious. The delicious chicken drumsticks were smothered in a honey and wholegrain mustard before being roasted and they were all golden and crispy. The charred fennel was a surprising hit with the kids and I loved that the side salad dishes were every bit as delicious as the main dish. You can see that a lot of thought must go into every recipe idea.
The quality of the ingredients is excellent and I love just how easy Marley Spoon make everything. It’s great getting to try out great new recipes (with somebody else doing the hard bit of choosing them for you!) I love how flexible the service is too so you can tailor it to fit your needs each week or skip a box altogether if you need to. Prices vary depending on the size of the box you choose but with meals starting from just £3.75 per serving I think they are great value.
The last Global BBQ recipes are available to order this week, in time for delivery next week so there has never been a better time to try out Marley Spoon for yourself. I can’t recommend them enough!
