I know, I know! Talking about going back to school when the children have only just broken up for summer! Or in our case, haven’t even broken up yet! I swear we are the only school that hasn’t finished yet? Longest. Term. Ever. Anyway I digress, the lovely people over at M&Co understand just how hectic the summer holidays can get and want to inspire parents to plan ahead.
We were sent some gorgeous school uniform from M&Co to help us get ahead of the game and first of all, I have to say that I was really impressed with the range of uniform that they sell. From traditional shirts and skirts to more modern slim fitting trousers and pinafores, there really is something for everyone and in a good range of colours and sizes too. It is incredibly good value too so there is no better time to stock up on those crisp white polo tops.
We chose this white short sleeve school shirt which has really pretty details like the capped sleeves and button fastenings but with the all important pocket. It is a light stretch cotton mix fabric which is easy to iron (all the better for me of course!)
Trousers are always a favourite with my ten year old and these grey tailored school trousers look so smart on her. They have gentle pleating to the front with a little silver charm that she loves. Again, they have a slight stretch to the material making them really durable (as school uniform needs to be to survive all that kids throw at it!) The trousers have a button fastening to the front but the waist is actually adjustable with a stretchy band inside making them the perfect fit.
For our next look we chose the classic white polo shirts which are sold as a pack of two. At the rate that mine work their way through uniform, you definitely can’t have enough of them so priced at £8 for a pack, I think they are really good value. They feel like such a nice quality cotton too.
The grey pleated stretch school skirt has buttons to the side that my eight year old thought was really fancy. I love the traditional pleats and the fact that it also has an adjustable waist. It means it can be pulled in to fit her perfectly now but grow with her over the school year.
I have to say that having done the whole back to school thing for far too many years to remember, I wholeheartedly agree with M&Co when it comes to planning ahead. Experience has taught me that it is always wise to get ahead when it comes to back to school shopping. Let’s face it, it is not the most enjoyable of tasks and there is nothing worse than leaving it to the last minute. Been there, done that. For starters, you can guarantee that you won’t be able to get hold of that one thing that you desperately need and will spend an eternity shopping around in a mad panic on that last day of the summer with the rest of the population. Never. Again.
No, the only way to do it is to do it early. That way, you will have your pick of all the best uniform in all the sizes you need. I am not the most organised of people in life generally but when it comes to school uniform, I have learnt that I have to be! Trust me on this, there is no better feeling than starting the summer holidays knowing that the back to school shopping is all done and dusted, folded neatly away waiting for that first day back to school. Smug parenting levels? Off the scale. And M&Co really do have everything that you might need. Happy shopping!
