..so it’s what I wore
Velvet dress from Zara, black turtle neck top underneath from New Look, black opaques from M&S, patent buckle flats from New Look
I loved this Zara dress when I first saw it in store but I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about it when I got it home. Well, actually I was more unsure about the outfit as a whole with the turtle neck thing going on rather than the dress itself. The dress I loved. It was velvet and flowery with a big frilly neckline, what’s not to love? This photo doesn’t begin to do the dress justice. It’s such a lovely thick, rich velvet with an almost neon floral print.
I didn’t know if I could quite pull off the whole turtle neck with dress combo though, it felt a little seventies for me. And wearing the dress without something underneath really isn’t an option as it is really low cut on the front and back. I mean seriously low cut. No way is it meant to be worn on its own. At least not in December in Yorkshire. But actually, having worn it a few times now I’ve come around to the idea and I really like it. Helped by the fact that Mr Mostly likes it too, it has to be said. I thought this would be one of those outfits that he just didn’t understand, you know? But he actually liked it enough to tell me so. I know. That almost never happens.
The shoes were a New Look bargain and I absolutely love them. I had a similar pair to this in my virtual Zara basket for weeks but the buckles on those ones weren’t quite right so I couldn’t bring myself to buy them. Fussy? Moi? But then quite by chance I found these beauties at a fraction of the price with perfect buckles. It was just meant to be! I have a pair of black patent Mary Janes from Office that I wear to death so these make a nice change with the triple straps and pointy toes.
So that was me, what have you been wearing this week? Have you embraced the velvet trend yet?
