What I Wore: The birthday dress(es) edit

What I Wore: The birthday dress(es) edit - Mostly Yummy Mummy Blog

I can’t remember when it first started but over the last few years at least, I have treated myself to a new dress for my birthday. Having my birthday at the end of April usually means that my choice of dress is on the ambitious side as far as the weather is concerned so I don’t think that I have ever worn one of my birthday dresses on my actual birthday but never mind!

This year though, I have accidentally ended up with not one but two birthday dresses. Well, I say accidentally but there is no accident about it. You see, I first picked out a dinosaur print dress from Cath Kidston (yes really!) but when I came to buy it, it was all sold out in my size in store and online. So I consoled myself with this beautiful duck pond print dress instead. In hindsight, I actually prefer this print to the dinosaurs so maybe it was sold out for a reason after all?

But then lo and behold the new Cath Kidston catalogue landed on my doormat and they have only gone and released a new Future Florals collection, haven’t they? Be still my beating heart! There was no way on earth that the new Winfield check shirt dress wouldn’t be mine. And knowing that this new collection would sell like hot cakes, I ordered it online there and then. I have to say that it is even dreamier than I imagined in real life I absolutely love it. It is a blue checked background and the florals look like they have been hand painted on. Just stunning. And it has pockets! You know I can’t resist a dress with pockets!

So that’s how my birthday dress tradition somehow turned into birthday dresses. Plural. And I’m not even sorry.

P.S. It’s not my birthday until Saturday so if we can all think summery sunshiney thoughts for then, that would great thank you!
