After taking the US by storm, L.O.L. Surprise! is set to be the next collectible craze here in the UK so my daughter was very excited when we were sent one to review here on my blog.
Much like unwrapping a gift, the excitement builds as each of the seven layers reveal a different surprise, including secret codes, emoji stickers, accessories and finally a L.O.L. Surprise! doll and her own little pod. My daughter likened it to playing pass the parcel without the passing bit so you get to keep all the treats to yourself! She really enjoyed opening each of the layers it was exciting to see what she got next.
There are over 45 to collect and you can mix and match accessories between the dolls. We got Teacher’s Pet who is from the popular collection but there also fancy, rare and ultra-rare dolls to collect. She came with an outfit and accessories including glasses and shoes plus a little drinking cup. Once you’ve opened up all the layers the next surprise is to find out whether your doll changes colour, spits, tinkles or cries by feeding her from the cup or emerging her in water. Our doll spits much to the amusement of my daughter!
The pod that comes with the doll can be used as a bathtub, a stand or a place to hangout then it closes together with a little handle so it can be used as a bag. It’s great to play with but also good for storage so you don’t lose all of the little accessories. There was a little leaflet that shows the other dolls in this series and my daughter is already talking about who she hopes she gets next. I think it’s safe to say that this was a huge hit with her!
My daughter enjoyed opening up the layers to see what came next and it kept her really entertained. Plus you are left with a doll that you can really play with thanks to all of the little accessories. and the water change surprise is a nice little extra too.
L.O.L. Surprise! are priced at £7.99 RRP each so make a great pocket money toy and they are not too expensive to start a collection. They are suitable for ages 3+ and available from all good toy retailers now including Argos, ASDA, The Entertainer, Smyths, Tesco and Toys ‘R’ Us.
