We are huge fans of Tangled and my daughter would find it impossible to name her favourite Disney princess it would just be too difficult but I do know that Rapunzel would be way up there! We were so excited to hear about Tangled The Series coming to the Disney Channel but not only that, there are also some amazing new toys out too. We were sent both the Swinging Locks Castle and Spin ‘n Style doll to review here on my blog.
The Swinging Locks Castle comes in quite a small box as you can see and does require adult assembly. It is really easy to put together though with clear instructions and the pieces slot into place in five minutes flat and you are good to go.
Disney’s Tangled the Series uncovers Rapunzel’s epic adventures on her journey to explore the kingdom of Corona and beyond and this castle is her new home. She can can swing and slide down the golden hair from the top right down to the ground or even go up and down in a lift. The castle has two stories with working doors on the downstairs and upstairs there is a seating area and you can spin the sun sign to make the lanterns turn.
There are lots of accessories including a sketchbook, easel, paint and brush that fit into Rapunzel’s hand. My daughter particularly loved this attention to detail. There is also a bed for Rapunzel and a bucket for Pascal and of course, a brush so you can do her hair.
The set comes complete with this full size Rapunzel doll and she fits on to the special seat that can either swing and slide down the golden locks ‘zip-wire’ or be placed on the lift to go up and down. The lift can also be used for Pascal to go up and down in his bucket too.
The Swinging Locks Castle is priced at around £39 and is available in toy shops now. I think this is really good value for such a large castle set especially as it not only includes smaller accessories but a Rapunzel doll and Pascal figure too. My daughter absolutely loves this set I can’t recommend it enough.
Now the Spin ‘n Style doll does exactly that – spins and styles! It is a lovely Rapunzel doll that comes complete with six hair accessories, two clips and a brush. This is old separately to the castle set above and priced at around £19.
You simply slot the special hair accessories into Rapunzel’s head then hold out her plaits one at a time. Underneath her pretty dress on the body of the doll is a large lever button and you click and release this to make the plait spin around and around. It can then be clipped into place while you spin and style the second plait in the exact same way.
It is very easy to use but the only thing I would say is that you need to be careful that the rest of Rapunzel’s hair does not get tangled while you spin. As you can see we have tied the rest of her hair back here. It’s great fun though we loved creating different hairstyles and it’s great that the doll can be used for normal play too not just for hair styles. We loved her!
