Beauty through the decades with Birchbox

Birchbox blog review

This month Birchbox* are celebrating all things 70s, 80s and 90s with three very special boxes. They are throwing it back to the beauty of bygone eras to celebrate their favourite timeless trends and reminisce about some more experimental looks. Beauty is all about mixing up the new with the classic and most importantly – having fun! I was sent the 90s box to review which has five beauty treats that have been handpicked to help bring the past into the present.

Birchbox blog review

First up is The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love You So Latte which is a full size product and a Birchbox exclusive. If there was one thing on everybody’s eyes in the 90s it was brown but these espresso coloured shades have really stood the test of time. I love the earthy tones and use all three for a soft smokey daytime look. I couldn’t have picked a better palette myself! Next is the Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray because lets face it, big hair never goes out of style! I have used this before and really like it because it is such a lightweight mist but adds great bounce. Then we have the Sebamed Clear Face Antibacterial Cleansing Foam for battling breakouts. Forget the skin-stripping routines of decades past, this cleanser takes a new approach to clear skin with a foaming formula that helps to wash away impurities and balance oily skin.

Next is the Percy & Reed Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish. Whether you were rocking poker straight strands or high ponytails secured with a scrunchie, the hairstyles of the 90s were all about that high shine finish. Just a small dot of this polish worked through your hair smooths and defines your finished style while adding shine. And last up is the Model Co Creme Rouge which is a full size product. Back in the 90s Model Co founder and CEO Shelley Sullivan was running her own model and talent agency learning what women really wanted in their makeup bags. Fast forward to the noughties and her collection of innovative beauty products was ready. This silky smooth blush adds a pop of colour to cheeks and lips.
