Birchbox* are marking May’s arrival with a look ahead to warmer times and helping you to breathe fresh life into your beauty routine with this gorgeous new palm leaves and warm breeze box. Say aloha to the first signs of summer!
This month they have also partnered with Elizabeth Scarlett – the beautiful British homeware and accessories brand – to create an exclusive eye mask. The embroidered jungle leaf design is inspired by the May Birchbox and is subtly lavender scented to help you drift off. Available to purchase as a Birchbox PLUS throughout the month of May, subscribers have the option to pay an additional £14 to receive the eye mask with their box. It is worth £20 so that’s a great saving plus who can resist this little extra luxury? I love mine!
There is also the chance to win an Elizabeth Scarlett bundle of goodies worth £250 this month. All you need to do to enter is take a photo of your May Birchbox and beauty treats and share it on Instagram. Be sure to tag @BirchboxUK and use #BirchboxUK (or #BirchboxIRE depending where you are) in your caption and one lucky winner will be picked in June.
So inside this months Birchbox we have a really good mix of beauty, skincare and makeup products to get us ready for those first signs of summer. First up is the Doucce Luscious Lip Stain and mine came in Amber Rose which is a lovely rich pink colour. This pigmented liquid formula applies matte and lasts for hours. Unlike some lip stains I have tried before this does not make my lips feel dry at all, in fact you can’t even tell you are wearing it. Next is the Nuxe Aquabella Micro-Exfoliating Purifying Gel which is seriously hard working but gentle enough for daily use. This cleanser sloughs away impurities without drying your skin. I have to say that I never tried a Nuxe product that I didn’t love and this was no exception. I will definitely be treating myself to the full size product from the Birchbox shop when I have finished this one.
Then we have a couple of natural products starting with the Greenfrog Botanic Geranium & Peppermint Botanical Bodywash which smells every bit as zingy as it sounds. This organic formula is cruelty-free, vegan and completely free of chemical nasties so is great for sensitive skin, eczema and psoriasis. Now next is the Native Unearthed Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm which I was really intrigued to test. This all natural cream forgoes chemicals in favour of sweat absorbing arrowroot, antibacterial coconut oil and soothing shea butter. You just smooth a pea-sized amount on to clean underarms to form an invisible shield. Obviously it feels quite alien when you are used to roll on or spray deodorant products but I have to say that so far, so good – I might be converted! Last of all we have the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner which my teen swears by. I think this might have popped up in previous Birchboxes actually? But this easy to use pen style applicator will have you created those wings in a flash and it’s a fade resistant formula too so will last all day and night.
You can subscribe to Birchbox for just £10 per month (plus £2.95 p&p) and as I mentioned before, you have to option to purchase the gorgeous Elizabeth Scarlett eye mask this month as a Birchbox PLUS for just £14. I absolutely loved this months box, there has never been a better time to sign up and treat yourself (if you haven’t already!)
*For the purpose of this review I was kindly provided with this months Birchbox and the additional Birchbox PLUS product free of charge but I would only ever recommend a subscription service that I hand on heart truly love (and I hand on heart truly love Birchbox!)
