I am never in a hurry to say goodbye to summer but I must confess that a couple of sneaky autumn purchases have been made already which is so unlike me. To be fair, they are both leopard print so I think it is safe to say that it is the call of the wild rather than the call of cosy winter clothes that has won. Animal print is everywhere and it looks like we will be buying and wearing nothing else all winter which is just like a dream come true to someone like me who can’t resist a bit of Bet Lynch. I have been wearing leopard print since way before it was cool and will no doubt be wearing it long after the trend has disappeared. Animal print is a way of life for some of us you know.
This skirt from Next is the perfect midi length on me and the swishy material is just gorgeous. I love it now with a plain tee but plan to wear it later with jumpers or a denim shirt. It is a heavy enough material to see you right through the seasons it definitely doesn’t feel like a flimsy summer skirt if that makes sense. It is perfect with a denim jacket now as the weather turns that bit chillier but in the coming weeks no doubt I will be wearing it with ankle boots and a leather biker. Basically I plan to wear this skirt all year round. I love it.
The trainers are from Next too and you can’t really see them very well on this photo but they are white and have rose gold stars along the side and pretty ribbon laces. I’ve gone from being really cautious of the whole trainers-and-a-skirt/dress-thing thinking that it was just too fashion for a middle-aged mother of four living in a Yorkshire village to wearing nothing but. It’s practical for mumming about (and work too) but most of all I just love the look. I have to say though that my Air & Grace sneakers have spoilt me for life because comfort wise, nothing else compares. These trainers from Next look good but I am sad to say that they gave me a blister the first time I wore them, they are really not the comfiest. Lessons learned!
So that was me, what have you been wearing this week? Have you been lured by the call of the wild and sneaked some leopard print into your wardrobe yet?
