What I Wore: Grey pleats and shiny toes

What I Wore: The grey pleats and shiny toes edit - Mostly Yummy Mummy Blog

It’s Wednesday, so it’s what I wore. I’m going to lie to you, I’m having a wardrobe crisis nearly every day at the moment. What are you supposed to wear when the calendar is telling you it is summer but the sky is saying something very different? I refuse to do the three outfits in a day thing. What I put on in the morning stays on for the day. So that sometimes sees me with goosebumps on top of my goosebumps when I’ve optimistically dressed for summer or melting in a heap by the time the school run comes around because I have seemingly dressed for winter. I’m sick of having to dress for every kind of weather in one day. To be fair, I don’t know how you are supposed to dress for every kind of weather in one day?

One of my failsafeย options though has to be the midi. You can sort of get away with them whatever the weather. If it suddenly warms up then you are glad to have your legs (half) out but if it stays miserable then you don’t look like too much of a loon. This grey pleated skirt was a Primark find and I bought it in an aquamarine colour too because I liked the shape of it so much. It is probably not quite long enough to technically be a midi skirt but it comes past my knees so that is good enough for me. It’s quite a heavyweight jersey type material and has a lovely swish to it. Essential for any skirt I am sure you will agree. It has yet to be put in the wash though so fingers crossed that the pleats will survive. I can’t help but think that Primark bargains can sometimes be too good to be true so I’m enjoying it until the day I spill something down it and it has to be put to the test of a spin cycle. We’ll see.

Talking of Primark bargains, the shoes were from there too. I don’t often get lucky in Primark I don’t know if it is the store I go to or if I just don’t have a keen enough eye. But my magpie tendencies meant that I spotted these beauties at fifty paces. Flats with a t-bar in the shiniest of rose gold. I think they were made for me. I absolutely love them.

The top is just plain white from Next which is my favourite place for basic tees at the minute. I have been looking everywhere for good tees that don’t cost a bomb. I don’t like them to be too tight (or too baggy) nor too high in neck (or too low) and this ticked all of my boxes. It feels semi fitted but can be tucked in to skirts or jeans nicely. I liked the fit so much that I have bought it is pink, grey and black too in fact!

I know it is a really simple outfit but it is one that I really love at the minute while the weather makes up its mind. I love that I can throw over my denim jacket if needed too. I’ve had this Zalando jacket for years now and it just gets better and better with age. It was a vintage style denim when I bought it but it has really softened and worn in all the right places the older it has got. I love my denim jacket. It will never ever go out of style for me.

So that was me, what have you been wearing this week? Fingers crossed I will be back next Wednesday with a summer dress. A summer dress. In June. Can you imagine?
